Attendance

A class register on the teacher's phone

Each class has one dated register a day. The teacher marks present, absent or late from the phone in their hand, and the head sees at a glance which registers are still open.

The Attendance page: one dated register per class.

How a register works

  • Draft, submit, lockThe teacher marks the class and submits; the head locks it. Once submitted, a change needs a reason, and a locked register can only be corrected by the head.
  • Unmarked is not absentA child nobody has marked shows as unmarked, never as absent by default.
  • Open registers on the head's HomeThe head's Home lists the registers still open today, with a button for each.
  • The register bookA term view for each class, child by child and day by day, like the printed register book.

Absence that gets followed up

Students absent three or more days appear on the head's Home so someone can follow up. A follow-up is a task for a member of staff, with a note of what was done, not a label on the child.

Corrections that keep the record honest

When a mark is corrected, the original and the reason are kept. A school can show exactly what the register said on the day and why it changed.

Common questions

How long does taking the register take?

Under a minute for a typical class. Each child is one tap: present, late, absent or excused, and the page says how many are not marked yet.

Can a teacher change a register after submitting it?

Yes, with a reason. The original mark and the reason are both kept, and once the head has locked a register only the head can correct it.

Do children need to sign in?

No. Children never get their own logins. The teacher takes the register.
